Meet Mrs. Covington

Meet Mrs. Covington

Hey there! To my new 6th grade students, WELCOME TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.  I am so excited about having you in my class this year. I look forward to getting to know each one of you and hope to inspire a new passion for Reading in you!

My returning 7th and 8th graders, I have missed you!  I am looking forward to our NEW adventures in Reading!

A little about me: Mrs. Covington –
I am starting my sixth year as a teacher, this will be my fifth year teaching at WOMS. Before becoming a teacher I worked for the State of Texas within the scope of child protection. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.S. Science degree;  majoring in Kinesiology, minoring in English. I am Special Education certified, ELA 4-8th certified and this summer I worked to obtain my Reading by Design Dyslexia certification.  This year I will be teaching Res. Reading 6th – 8th grade, along with Dyslexia 6th- 8th grade.

I am married and have three awesome boys, one sweet daughter, and a grandbaby: Rylie and JR will be Seniors this year at WOHS. Ryan will be going into the fifth grade at WO Intermediate. Makala, my daughter, is grown and out of the house, and Aspen, my granddaughter, makes us all smile!  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, growing in my faith and love of Jesus, running, reading, and traveling.  I love-love-love watching my boys play sports, which includes skateboarding.  Football and Track are my favorites to watch, skateboarding makes me the most nervous!

I am thrilled about having you in my class this year, and I am looking forward to getting to know each of you.  It is going to be a great year!!!
